Thank you for expressing editorial concern about global warming ("Climate change's day in court," Feb. 26). It is ridiculous that the EPA (or anyone else) is even thinking of allowing any new fossil fuel powered plants, pipelines or fracking.
Ice-core data tells us that 800,000 years (at 30 years per generation, that is 26,667 generations!) prior to the use of fossil fuels, atmospheric carbon dioxide was in the range 180 to 300 ppm. So we know 300 ppm is safe. Starting in 1850 we have raised carbon dioxide concentration from 280 to 400 ppm. The fact that we are at 400 ppm does not mean it is safe.
We are like someone driving out from thick ice onto thin. We have not (to our knowledge) broken through yet but we can sure hear it cracking!
