Marathon bombing should prompt lawmakers to rethink immigration reform

ImmigrationBoston Marathon Bombing (2013)Gang Activity

Some people have argued that the Boston Marathon bombing should not affect immigration reform because immigrants in the country illegally are not in the habit of planting bombs.

But that doesn't doesn't mean they are safe. Many gang members are here illegally, including members of the dreaded MS-13.

The gang member who killed the four New Jersey college students was in the country illegally. The 25-year-old man who kidnapped the 13-year-old-boy at a bus stop in Florida was too. And countless others kill people in traffic accidents.

Illegal immigrants may not plant bombs, but many people have been robbed, raped or even killed by them.

The whitewash that all immigrants are noble, hardworking assets to society must not be swallowed whole.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a monster, but that shouldn't restrict investigation into his beliefs that led up to the Boston Marathon bombing. This act of terrorism was abhorrent, but I don't fault Rolling Stone for doing an article on the subject, or for putting the remaining suspect's photo on the...
