On the Saturday after Hurricane Agnes hit Maryland, I reported to work (I was a supervisor at the Howard County Department of Social Services) to enable people to apply for assistance because of damage from this storm. Blaze Starr came to Ellicott City for help, and I interviewed her ("Burlesque dancer Blaze Starr dies at 83," June 15).
I think she lived on Buckingham Road near Liberty Road where houses had been flooded. I knew who she was, and I desperately wanted her autograph, but to my regret ever since, I didn't ask. I should have written her later to ask for her autograph and now that she has passed the opportunity has also passed. The article in The Sun brought back this bittersweet memory which I never will forget.
