Police arrest Baltimore dirt bike 'godfather,' allege he maintained a 'chop shop'

Look closer at police salaries

Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts is concerned that once his team is trained, a certain number of police officers leave Baltimore City for other Maryland jurisdictions paying higher salaries ("A smaller, smarter force," June 21).

Commissioner Batts should establish a study group to compare the police officers' jobs titles, salaries and job descriptions to those of the surrounding counties with the goal of establishing a regional pay scale for each position.
