Recalling the man who made Alonso

Amid the acclaim for the work of Andres Alonso as Baltimore city schools CEO over the past six years, an unsung hero is Brian Morris, chairman of the school board that selected Dr. Alonso. We were members of that board.

The board set its sights high and stayed focused on finding the best person for the job. The process was sensitive and complicated, but Mr. Morris provided bold leadership that helped set the stage for Dr. Alonso's bold leadership.
