Justice for man's best friend

One year in jail for animal abuse isn't enough.

Judge Richard E. Jordan should be praised for the one-year sentence he handed down in the Alec Taylor animal cruelty case ("Man's best friend," Oct. 12).

It should have been a three-year penalty. Judge Richard E. Jordan deserves praise for being one of the few judges who actually believe that animals should not be cruelly mistreated.
