In a state where 10 percent (314,000) of the workforce is employed by the federal government and another 250,000 citizens work for federal contractors, Rep. Andy Harris stands alone among the state delegation and votes to keep the government shut down ("Congress approves deal on shutdown, debt," Oct. 17). He also voted against raising the debt ceiling, another act that would have been disastrous for the states and the rest of the country. Such actions make me question his judgement, his intelligence and his motives. Maryland deserves better.
