Five things we learned from the gambling special session
Mike Miller is in command
After the regular session of the General Assembly ended in debacle with the failure to pass an operating budget, there were rumblings around Annapolis that Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller had lost a step and might be on his way out. Looks like that was wishful thinking by his detractors. Mr. Miller is the one who put a Prince George's casino on the agenda, it was his persistence that got Gov. Martin O'Malley on board, and it was his terms that defined the debate. When the House sent back a bill with significant amendments that his chamber had never discussed, he rammed it through, no questions asked.

Now, to the Sun: Baltimoreans and Marylanders are still waiting for The Baltimore Sun to come clean and apologize to 41st district legislator, Honorable Jill P. Carter for the numerous attempts to oblitterrate her stellar legislative record, sully her good name, and disparage her character. Along with editors routinely extracting her name from articles, the most notable, and most unethical, assault is the editorial of lies written by Andrew A green surrounding the 2011 failed same sex marriage bill where he wrongly accused and maliciously attacked her. As we can see by the vote count, most Baltimore legislators grandstand. But, in the end, only Delegates Jill P Carter and Peter Hammen are standing grand. The Sun was so busy taking orders from Governor O'malley and promoting his self-serving agenda, you abandoned all ethics tried to assassinate the character of Baltimore City's GREATEST civil rights legacy, Walter P Carter and his daughter Jill. Apologize!
Oh please! The legislature voted for the original slots bill at 3:30 am on a Sunday during a special session called by your governor. But, you had NOTHING to say about it then. Too little, too late, Sun.
Thanks sun, but that isn't even half the story. the other half is, what benefit does Miller get from this effort? because God knows, it's there somewhere.
