A.J. Davis had 17 points and Andre Nation added 14 as James Madison beat Towson, 75-70, Tuesday night in a Colonial Athletic Association game in Harrisonburg, Va.
Marcus Damas scored 19 points for the Tigers, Mike Burwell and Bilal Dixon added 13 apiece, and Jerrelle Benimon had 12 points and 13 rebounds. Dixon also had 13 rebounds for Towson, which had won four games in a row.
James Madison's Devon Moore hit several key free throws down the stretch and finished 9-for-10 from the line.
The Tigers (14-13, 9-5 CAA) went on an 8-0 run to take a 36-32 lead early in the second half on a basket and free throw by Dixon.
Dixon scored minutes later to give the Tigers a 43-38 lead with 13:50 left. A basket by Towson's Rafriel Guthrie made it 47-40 before a 3-pointer by Davis cut the margin to 47-43.
James Madison (15-12, 9-5) took a 59-58 lead on a tip-in by Moore (13 points). A 3-pointer by Ron Curry made it 64-58 with 2:36 to go.
Holy Cross 66, Navy 57: The host Crusaders (11-13, 3-6 Patriot League) never trailed but had to hold off the Midshipmen (7-18, 1-8).
Justin Burrell had 14 points for Holy Cross along with Dave Dudzinski's 13 points and eight rebounds.
Navy got a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds from Worth Smith, and 14 points from Brandon Venturini.
Alvernia 70, Hood 59: The loss ended a four-game winning streak for the visiting Blazers (14-10, 8-9 Commonwealth Conference).
Elizabethtown 64, Stevenson 50: Stefon McCray scored 16 points, but the visiting Mustangs (14-10, 8-9 Commonwealth Conference) saw their five-game winning streak end.
Mt. St. Mary's 54, Wagner 42: The visiting Mount (10-13, 6-6 Northeast Conference) got major contributions from Jenn Carney, Sydney Henderson and Kayla Grossett.
Alvernia 79, Hood 75, OT: The host Crusaders (9-15, 6-11 Commonwealth Conference) outscored the Blazers (5-19, 3-14) 10-6 in overtime to win.
Hood led 69-66 when Alvernia's Chelsea Ebersole made a 3-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Emily Maerz finished with 17 points for Hood, which has lost five straight.
Elizabethtown 66, Stevenson 43: The visiting Mustangs (7-15, 4-13 Commonwealth Conference) lost their fifth straight. Kayla Kelly (Centennial) and Stephanie Martinez each scored 10 points for Stevenson.
