The Annapolis waterfront house with a $1.77 million price tag, the second-most-expensive property sold in the Baltimore region in September, was under contract after just one week.
The house at 131 Spa View Ave., in the state capital's Murray Hill neighborhood, has a traditional exterior and contemporary interior and a deck, patio and private pier that overlooks Spa Creek. The five-bedroom, four-bath house went on the market in move-in condition, said Day Weitzman, the listing agent.
"The house was in such good shape," said Weitzman, an agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. "For an old house, it had been extremely well-maintained. It's close to town, on the water, has off-street parking and it was a nice-size house."
The Murray Hill neighborhood is appealing, Weitzman said, because "you're in town, but you're not downtown. You get a bigger yard and off-street parking."
The original part of the Spa View house had been built in the 1930s, she said. A previous owner had started renovations, and the seller completed the work, adding the pier, landscaping the yard and opening up the floor plan.
"Because of the age of the home, you would expect you would have smaller rooms," Weitzman said. But "it was very open. …That was a surprise for a lot of people when they walked in the front door. The decks were nice. The kitchen was amazing and a nice size. The floor plan itself was more contemporary for today's living."
Other features included a covered side porch that reoriented the entrance to the home, a finished, walkout basement, two fireplaces and two laundry rooms. The house was listed for $1.85 million.
"With well-maintained homes, you can feel it the minute you walk in, and this was one of those houses," Weitzman said.
