The op-ed by Lillian Lowery and Betty Weller regarding principal and teacher evaluations was informative and encouraging ("Better evaluations mean better schools," Aug. 30). To read an article on a critical issue in education written by the state's schools superintendent and the president of the state's largest teachers union is a powerful sign that these two leaders are not only talking and agreeing, but are taking the time to communicate their agreement on the important issue of teacher evaluations.

This is the way it should be and this sends a message that Maryland schools will continue to be number one!
