I love to go to the races. I love to play the races. It's one of my favorite pastimes, and I travel the country attending various racetracks. I also love Maryland racing, but the facilities at Pimlico Race Course make me not want to attend the live races at my home track ("Thoroughbred racing resumes at Pimlico on Thursday," April 2).
The facilities are horrendous. Flooded restrooms and a malfunctioning video board in the infield so patrons can't even watch the races. I could go on. My question is where is the 2.5 percent of slot machine revenue that is allocated for the "race track facilities upgrades account" being spent? It surely isn't being used to enhance the live racing experience for the paying customers. All I notice is a fresh coat of paint on the exterior. Paint on that place is like lipstick on a pig.
