Morgan should reinstate President Wilson

The board of regents failure to renew the contract of David Wilson, president of Morgan State University, is a grave mistake in judgment ("Morgan State board refuses to renew contract of president," Dec. 11).

As a 1950 graduate of Morgan, and the school's alumnus of the year in 2007, I have participated on many committees and projects at the university. I have worked with and observed the leadership and administration most of presidents since my graduation. I am extremely proud of the academic and physical growth at Morgan, especially under Earl S. Richardson's leadership.

In Mr. Wilson's short tenure he has continued the university's progress, both academically and physically. He has the vision, knowledge and experience that Morgan needs to maintain and improve its position as a first class urban research university. I urge the board to reverse its decision and retain David Wilson as president.
