First step to fix budget: Make campaign contributions transparent

Warren Buffet, the billionaire investor, is right about raising taxes for the wealthiest Americans to balance the budget. Mr. Buffet should also propose two additional reforms.

They are first, list campaign contributions given congressional and presidential candidates in newspapers and on TV news channels and, secondly, require all legislation proposed by congressional and presidential candidates be listed in newspapers and on TV news channels.

The two reforms will provide the evidence that campaign contributions have become legalized bribery. Americans will understand that Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is financing his campaign upon rich contributors like Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons.
