William Ralph Harris, 64, of Wolverine and formerly of Wixom, Mich., died Dec. 4, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
William was born on Nov. 16, 1948, in Midland, Mich., the son of Ralph and Ellen (Sackrider) Harris and was raised in Petoskey and Wolverine.
On June 21, 1969, William married Linda Smith and together they made their home in the Detroit area. William owned a mechanics shop for a time in Southfield, but then went to work as a maintenance engineer at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, working there for 28 years. Linda preceded William in death on April 16, 1999.
On Sept. 8, 2001, William married Pamela Mastantuono-Fishwick in Farmington Hills and resided in Wixom until they moved to Wolverine in 2003.
William was a true fix-it man and could fix almost anything, be it an engine or woodwork. He was a member of AARP and a former member of the Eagles. William was a devoted and loving family man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Harris; his mother, Ellen Fitzpatrick, of Wolverine; daughter, Patricia Frand, of Wolverine; stepdaughter, Amanda Fishwick, of Wolverine; three grandsons, Matthew Frand, Jason Frand and Brodie Fishwick; 11 siblings; and by many nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; first wife, Linda; two sons, Andrew and William Matthew; and by two siblings.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey with chaplain Larry Funk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10. Burial will be in the Silver Lake Cemetery in Wolverine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Michigan Humane Society.
