Patrick L. "Moon" Mullins, 58, of Petoskey, passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2013, at the Hiland Cottage of Hospice of Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey.
Pat was born on March 16, 1954, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of Kenneth Harold and Rita Viola (Gootee) Mullins. He was raised in Kentucky and Garden City, Mich., graduating from Garden City West High School and then graduated from Lake Superior State University with a degree in conservation.
On Nov. 14, 1994, Pat married Kathleen M. (Kowalski) Matelski in Charlevoix, and together they made their home in Petoskey.
Pat went to work for the Mitchell Street Pub as a bartender, and continued to work there for 18 years, being voted Bartender of the Year, many times. Pat was a faithful employee to Jerry and Diane Elman and Larry and Elaine Rochon.
Pat was a well known and well liked individual. He worked on the Horton Bay Parade Committee for 10 years, as well as at the Mushroom Festival in Boyne City and the Winter Fun in Horton Bay. He was a dedicated husband and father and was considered to be a true "Kentucky Gentleman."
Pat is survived by his wife, Kathleen Mullins, of Petoskey; stepchildren, Nicki Matelski and Nathan (Molly) Matelski; grandchildren, Lily and Mitch Matelski; siblings, Alan Jackson Mullins, Kenneth Michael Mullins, David Winston (Diane) Mullins, Rita Fay (Elmer) George and Billie Carol (Den) Berry; 12 nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Stone Funeral Home with the Rev. David Behling officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the time of service.
