Liz Larson, age 77, died peacefully on Feb. 6, 2013, at her family cottage in Harbor Point, Mich., with her family, friends and animals.
Liz was born March 5, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas Hetherington Carruthers III and Elizabeth Rogan Carruthers. She spent all of her early years in Glendale, Ohio, and Harbor Point, Mich.
Liz is survived by her sons, Daniel Carl Rebhun III and wife, Paula Gambino Rebhun, Christian Keeler Rebhun and wife, Dana Gamble Rebhun; grandchildren, Tory Elizabeth, Keeler Christine, Rachel Hetherington, Christian Cooper and Daniel Christian; brother, Ralph R. Carruthers; sister-in-law, Susan Baker Carruthers; nephews, Thomas H. Carruthers V, John D. Carruthers; and niece, Sara P. Carruthers.
"Griz," as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was a free spirit who enjoyed life fully. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with each one of them and would often take them on amazing trips, sharing her love of travel. Liz had a huge impact on all of their lives, along with the lives of so many people in the community. She was a generous soul who made time for others and loved animals. She donated to Harbor Point to keep the horse and buggy going so that future generations could enjoy the same quaintness that she grew up with.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sallie Darrow and Chuck Lemons for their love and support.
A celebration of her life will take place in Harbor Springs this summer. Details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, 1300 West Conway Road, Harbor Springs, Mich. 49740.
