She was born Oct. 29, 1925.
Eleanor was a native of Detroit and lived throughout Michigan, including Traverse City, Petoskey and Owosso.
Eleanor served in the Canadian Armed Forces in World War II as a Polish translator in Europe for the U.S. Allied Forces.
She married John G. Lipski, M.D., July 29, 1944, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Eleanor returned to Michigan with her husband and son, Jan, in 1947.
Eleanor was instrumental in helping John establish a private medical practice in Posen, Mich. Eleanor was active in civic activities including the Petoskey Area Garden Club and Burns Clinic Ladies Auxiliary. After relocating to Florida in 1986, she was active in the Beverly Hills Polish Club where she served as entertainment chair and president. She was a member of the club's Polish dance group and proudly performed wearing the traditional folk dance costume.
Eleanor loved 40s era movies, musicals, dance and history. A devout Catholic, Eleanor was member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic parish (Petoskey), and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (Beverly Hills, Fla.)
Eleanor was preceded in death by siblings, Mary, Cassandra, Lillian, Victor, Sophie and Theodore; and husband, John G. Lipski, in 1997. She is survived by son, Jan and wife, Delores Lipski of Lompoc, Calif.; daughters, Irene and husband, Gene Barrera, Roberta and husband, John Mayes, of Jacksonville, N.C., Laura Eglen of The Woodlands, Texas, Lilly and husband, Glen Bonetti, of Mills River, N.C. Eleanor was grandmother to 13 and a great-grandmother.
