Virginia Bowen was born in Baltimore and raised in Hampden and Mechanicsburg, N.J. She later returned to Baltimore and graduated in 1941 from Eastern High School. She also attended Bard Avon School, a Baltimore business and secretarial school.
In 1950, she married Raymond G. Bryant, and the couple settled on St. George's Road in the North Baltimore community The Orchards.
Mrs. Bryant enjoyed painting, photography, bridge and gardening. She was a longtime active member of the Cliff Dwellers Garden Club in Roland Park.
"She served on many committees to improve the Roland Park area," said her son, Christhilf C. "Chris" Bryant of Sparks.
Since 1994, Mrs. Bryant had lived at the Sykesville retirement community.
Her husband of 58 years, a retired Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. executive who was vice president of consumer services, died in 2008.
She was a former member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
Mrs. Bryant was an active communicant of the Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 Third Ave., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
In addition to her son, Mrs. Bryant is survived by a granddaughter.
