Tony L. Stewart, a retired sales and marketing executive for a liquor distributor, died Friday of heart disease and kidney failure at Howard County General Hospital. He was 68.
Tony Leon Stewart was born in Moundville, Ala., and raised in Birmingham, Ala., where he graduated in 1962 from Parker High School.
After serving in the Air Force from 1962 to 1968, he enrolled at the University of Alabama, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1972.
In 1972, Mr. Stewart moved to Baltimore and went to work for Churchill Distributors. Two years later, he took a similar job in sales and marketing at McKesson Distributors, from which he retired in 1995.
The longtime Columbia resident was an avid golfer, sports fan and traveler, and especially liked vacationing in Cancun, Mexico. He also enjoyed owning and driving Jaguar and Lexus automobiles, family members said.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bridgeway Community Church, 9189 Red Branch Road, Columbia.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Earnestine McGhee; a son, J'Mahl A. Stewart of Elkridge; and four grandchildren.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
