Sister Patricia Mary Bianco, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis and an educator, died Friday of cancer at Assisi House, her order's retirement home in Aston, Pa. She was 79.
Doris Marie Bianco was born and raised in Baltimore, where she graduated from Catholic High School. She entered her order in 1952 and professed her vows in 1955.
She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Neumann University in Aston, and spent her career in both elementary education and social services in Philadelphia and Maryland.
From 1979 to 2005, Sister Patricia had taught at St. Peter Claver parochial school and had held various assignments at the St. Francis Neighborhood Center, Charles H. Hickey Jr. School and the Ridge School in Towson.
She returned to Assisi House, and from 2006 to 2007 had volunteered with the Bachman Project in Chester, Pa., and from 2007 to this year volunteered with Mid County Senior Services.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston.
