Robert A. Sherrock, corporate attorney and Columbia resident, dies

Robert A. Sherrock, a retired corporate attorney who was an avid football fan, died May 2 from cancer at Howard County General Hospital. The Columbia resident was 74.

Robert Aloysius Sherrock was the son of Robert Sherrock, an automobile dealer, and Mary Sherrock, a homemaker. He was born and raised in Hazelton, Pa.

After graduating in 1962 from St. Gabriel’s High School in Hazelton, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1966 from the University of Scranton.

In 1972 he received a law degree from the University of Baltimore.

Mr. Sherrock was a corporate attorney for Westinghouse Electric Corp., which later became Northrup Grumman Corp., in Linthicum, for 38 years until he retired in 1996.

He was a lifelong sports fan, and especially liked following University of Notre Dame football.

He was also a world traveler and enjoyed playing golf.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. June 2 at Calvary Cemetery, 49 S. Hunter Hwy., Drums, Pa.

Mr. Sherrock is survived by his wife of 20 years, the former Delores Bishop; a son, Robert A. Sherrock Jr. of Sanford, Fla.; two daughters, Jennifer Sherrock of Decatur, Ga., and Shannon Allison of Blaine, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Merrick of Pasadena; and seven grandchildren. An earlier marriage to the former Lynn Pakulla ended in divorce.
