Robert M.S. Menzies Sr., president and CEO of Easton Bank and Trust Co. and a civic leader, died Tuesday of multiple myeloma at his Easton home. He was 67.

The son of John T. Menzies Jr., former president of Crosse & Blackwell, and Priscilla Fuller Menzies, a homemaker, Robert Michael Stewart Menzies Sr. was born in Baltimore and raised on Broadway Road in the Worthington Valley.

Mr. Menzies, who was known as "Mike," graduated in 1965 from Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, N.Y. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1969 from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Va., and a certified public accountant certificate from what is now Loyola University Maryland.

Before going to work for Easton Bank and Trust in 1998, Mr. Menzies held executive positions with The First Bank of Frederick, The Talbot Bank of Easton, and the Maryland National Bank in Annapolis and Easton.

Mr. Menzies was active with the Independent Community Bankers of America, where he had been chairman.

Mr. Menzies had served as chair of the Talbot Hospice Foundation and had chaired the United Fund of Talbot County. He had been a director of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation.

Mr. Menzies enjoyed flying planes and boating.

He was a communicant of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, 502 S. Morris St., Oxford, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Menzies is survived by his wife of four years, the former Marjorie M. "Midge" Fuller; two sons, R. Michael S. Menzies Jr. of Estacada, Ore., and Wade Callender Menzies of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepson, Wade Perry Fuller of West Chester, Pa.; his mother, Priscilla Fuller Menzies of Baltimore; a brother, Scott Menzies of Upperco; a sister, Priscilla Menzies Keller of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and a step-granddaughter. His wife of more than 30 years, the former Marita Peck, died in 2004.
