Mary K. Wheeler, the retired owner of a women's fitness center, died of kidney failure March 14 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. The Arnold resident was 70.
Born Mary Klimczack in Baltimore and raised in Brooklyn, she was a 1959 Seton High School graduate. She attended nursing training at St. Agnes Hospital.
He said she was also a devoted grandmother and enjoyed taking her two grandchildren on trips to Ocean City. She also enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod each fall.
"She was a person who loved beautiful things and scenery," her husband said.
In addition to her husband of 29 years and grandchildren, survivors include a son, Michael Cierniak of Pasadena; a daughter, Terri Rose of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two stepsons, Michael Wheeler of Catonsville and Scott Wheeler of Reading, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Michele Short of St. Mary's County; and two sisters, Jean Dabrowka of Severn and Joan Larimer of Severna Park. A previous marriage ended in divorce.
Plans for a private memorial service are incomplete.
