Jeanne T. Welsh, a homemaker who enjoyed painting, died of congestive heart failure March 31 at the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care. The Pinehurst resident was 84.
Born Jeanne Tribull in Baltimore and raised in Govans, she was a 1944 Eastern High School graduate. She became a secretary at a brokerage, Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Beane, where she met her future husband, Joseph Francis Welsh Jr.
A watercolor artist, she studied under Fritz Briggs at the Schuler School of Fine Arts.
Mrs. Welsh was a Keswick Multi-Care Center volunteer for 35 years.
She was a member of the Junior League, the Three Arts Club of Homeland and the Country Club of Maryland.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5300 N. Charles St., where she was a member. She was a former member of Gregory Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Douglas Welsh of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Mark N. Welsh of Bel Air; a daughter, Lori W. Martinet of Timonium; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Her husband of 61 years died in 2009.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
