Helen H. Fingles, apartment manager, dies
She was assistant manager of the Carlisle Apartments on West University Parkway

The Mercy Ridge Retirement Community resident was 81.
The daughter of a construction company owner and a homemaker, the former Helen Hoffmeister was born in Baltimore and raised in Stoneleigh.
She was a 1946 graduate of Girls' Latin School and earned a bachelor's degree in 1950 from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
She worked as a kindergarten teacher in Baltimore public schools before her marriage in 1951 to William Alfred Fingles III.
The couple lived for years on Hawthorne Road in Roland Park, where they raised their five children, and later moved to Cedarcroft and Towsongate Condominiums. In 1981, they bought a condominium in Ocean City.
Mr. Fingles, owner of a sheet metal manufacturing company, died in 2000.
From 1975 until 1995, Mrs. Fingles was assistant manager of the Carlisle Apartments on West University Parkway.
Mrs. Fingles enjoyed playing the piano and gardening and was an active member of the Three Arts Club of Homeland.
She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore and Ware avenues, Towson, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 1 p.m. Monday.
Surviving are four sons, William M. Fingles of Hamilton, Robert L. Fingles of Towson, John S. Fingles of Ocean City and Thomas E. Fingles of Cockeysville; a daughter, Ann Marie Tallant of Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
