Emanuel Edwin Moaney Sr., a retired case manager for the Job Network Program at the Baltimore County Department of Social Services, died of liver cancer Dec. 16 at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson. He was 62 and lived in Northeast Baltimore.
Born in Baltimore and raised on Normal Avenue near Clifton Park, he was a 1969 Polytechnic Institute graduate. He served in the Marine Corps as a sergeant during the Vietnam War.
He was a job coach and employment specialist for the Baltimore County Department of Social Services and an instructor in employment for the Department of Public Safety and Corrections in Sykesville.
Mr. Moaney enjoyed fishing.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Restoration Christian Ecclesia, 1249 E. North Ave., where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife of six years, the former Melissa Marks; four sons, Ishmael Moaney of Los Angeles, and Emanuel Moaney, Isaiah Moaney and Joseph Moaney, all of Baltimore; two daughters, Jennae Moaney and Tynethia Moaney, both of Baltimore; two brothers, Rory Moaney and Abdullah "Damon" Moaney of Baltimore; two sisters; Valerie Coles of Columbia, S.C., and Sharon Abdullahi of Woodlawn; and seven grandchildren.
