Ann V. Rasmussen, billing manager

Ann V. Rasmussen, a registered nurse and former medical practice billing manager, died July 20 of cancer at her Severna Park home. She was 83.

The daughter of an anthracite coal miner and a schoolteacher, Ann Virginia Brachman was born and raised in Pottsville, Pa., where she graduated in 1947 from Pottsville High School.

She was a 1950 graduate of the Temple University School of Nursing in Philadelphia, where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing.

In 1951, she married Dr. Peter Rasmussen, a pathologist.

During the 1980s and into the mid-1990s, she was billing manager for Associates in Pathology, her husband's pathology practice at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Mrs. Rasmussen was a member of the Severna Park Republican Women's Club and the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County. She was also active in Anne Arundel County Trails and the Women's Auxiliary of the University of Maryland Medical Center.

She enjoyed sewing, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren, family members said.

Her husband died in 1999.

A memorial service will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

Mrs. Rasmussen is survived by her two sons, Peter Rasmussen Jr. and David Rasmussen, both of Severna Park; two daughters, Lorraine Rasmussen Heibel of Annapolis and Joan Rasmussen Stuart of Hilton Head, S.C.; and four grandchildren.">
