Aberdeen: Mass of Christian burial for Clara Marie Yeoman, 77, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Aberdeen. The Rev. J. Joseph Holzhauser will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Liturgical wake service will be 7 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, at the mortuary. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Friends may sign her online guest at schriversmemorial.com.
Clara passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Primrose Cottages.
Clara Marie Yeoman was born on Nov. 21, 1933, to Thomas H. and Marie P. (Artz) Yeoman in Aberdeen, where she was raised and attended St. Mary's Parochial School. She graduated from Mount Marty High School in 1950. She also attended and graduated from Mount Marty College in 1964. Clara became a Benedictine Sister under the name Adelaide and Clare Marie. She taught elementary school in South Dakota, North Dakota and Nebraska for the order until 1969. After leaving the convent, Clara taught elementary school for the Saint Paul Public School System in St. Paul, Minn., and she also attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She retired from teaching in 1976, and returned to Aberdeen to care for her mother.
Clara was an active member of St. Mary's Parish, serving as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She also taught CCD classes for several years.
Surviving Clara are four brothers: Clarence (Elayne) Yeoman of Florissant, Mo., Gerald (Kathy) Yeoman of Apple Valley, Minn., Dennis (Pat) Yeoman of Anna Maria, Calif., and Lennie (Debbie) Yeoman of Palm Bay, Fla.; a sister, Phyllis Tucker of Maui, Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Arthur.
