Aberdeen: Frances E. Monson, 73, of Aberdeen passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Frances' wishes were to be cremated, with a graveside service being held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Riverside Memorial Park in Aberdeen. Family and friends wishing to attend should gather at 10 a.m. at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., in Aberdeen for a processional to the cemetery.
A time of fellowship and celebration of her life will immediately follow at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Frances Elizabeth Fors was born Nov. 29, 1938, to Andrew and Ruth (Johnson) Fors in San Francisco, Calif. When Fran was 8, she and her family moved to Menlo Park, Calif., where she grew up.
She met Allan Monson, and they were married on March 21, 1959, in San Jose, Calif. They moved to Paradise, Calif., where they owned and operated Allan's Sporting Goods. This is where they started their family. In 1967, they moved the family back to Aberdeen.
Fran was a homemaker most of her life, enjoying baking, canning and sewing. She went to work for Biegler Motors later on in her life until she decided to retire with her husband. Fran loved spending time with her family, friends and her many pets. She especially loved being a grandma and was proud of all her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Allan; children: Julie (Brad) Scott of Pierre, Joanna Monson of Sioux Falls, Mark (Lillian) Monson of Sacramento, Calif., and Diane (Paul) Clark of Battle Ground, Wash.; one sister, Diane (Richard) Fly of Santa Ynez, Calif.; one brother, Robert (Cindy) Fors of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren: Chance, Seth and Trace Scott of Pierre, and Morgan and Brayden Clark of Battle Ground, Wash.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one infant son, Erik.
Memorials are preferred to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society.
