Redfield: Edna M. Johnson, 94, of Redfield and formerly of Frankfort, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. The Rev. Stephen Perry will officiate.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Frankfort.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials directed to the American Cancer Society.
Edna was born March 14, 1917, on the farm south of Frankfort to Howard and Ada (Wetzbarger) Baird. She attended Frankfort School and graduated in 1934.
Edna married Glenn M. Johnson on Oct. 1, 1938. They lived on the family farm south of Frankfort until 1982, when they moved into Frankfort. Glenn died in 1986, and Edna continued living in Frankfort until she moved to Redfield in 1998.
She was an active member of Frankfort United Methodist Church and Methodist Women. She enjoyed quilting with Happy Hour Club. She loved gardening, flowers, canning, sewing and providing for her family. Edna enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren's activities.
Edna is survived by her children: Glenna (Larry) Herker of Muncie, Ind., Kathleen Nagel of Gettysburg, Deanna (Arden) Bindenagel of Frankfort and Alan (Mickie) Johnson of Frankfort. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Greg (Mary) Herker, Steven Herker, Mark Nagel, Nathan Nagel, Andrea (Allen) Goodroad, Anne (Bjorn) Aamot, Kurt Bindenagel, Brian (Jamie) Johnson, Sarah Johnson and Lisa Johnson; and her great-grandchildren: Grace Herker, Callie and Candice Aamot, Ella, Lila and Leo Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Glen Hassebroek; son-in-law, Leonard Nagel; three brothers: Paul, Kent and Clark Baird; and six sisters: Ruth (in infancy), Elva Higgins, Helen Battey, Dorothy Allen, Doris Horton and Martha Johnson.
