Oakes, N.D.: The funeral for Carlton Tony D. Brummund, 76, of Oakes, N.D., will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Oakes, with the Rev. Patrick O'Brien officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes. Burial will be at the Oakes View Cemetery.
Tony was born to Carl and Mabel (Ferogen) Brummund on Oct. 21, 1935, at Marion, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Dickey and Oakes.
He was united in marriage to Darlene Schiebe on May 21, 1954. They farmed together until her death on Aug. 26, 1992. Tony continued to farm until retiring in 1996. He moved into Oakes in 2000, and was residing there at the time of his death. Tony enjoyed spending his winters in Mesa, Ariz. Everyone will remember him for his love of dancing and playing cards.
Tony died Saturday, July 21, 2012, doing what he loved ... farming.
He is survived by his children: four sons, Tom of LaMoure, Darrell (Paula) and Darwin (Ute) all of Oakes, and Donald of Frederick; seven daughters, Sharon (Bill) Dunaway, Jamestown, Denise (Vern) Nakaguma, Honolulu, Hawaii, Connie (Dean) Munsch and Vickie (Brad) Wilson, all of Aberdeen, Shelly (Dennis) Forward and Becky (Jake) Kelly, all of Oakes, and Toni Brummund, West Fargo; three sisters, Ramona Lund, Roletta Pantzke, and Pat Romsdal, all of Fargo; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; two brothers; and an infant daughter.
