The Garden City Police Department is using social media to spread the word about two men trying to scam its residents.
A Facebook post and Tweet both say that two Hispanic males have gone to a few residences in Garden City wearing Cox Communications clothing and asking for cash to upgrade their cable television services. The incidents happened between Sept. 6 and today.
"These individuals are not employed by Cox Communications," the police department states. "... You should always remain vigilant when dealing with unsolicited offers. Make sure those you are talking to are actually who they say they are and their business is legitimate."
The only other description police have is that the suspects are driving an older white "beat up" car.
