Maryland's highest court will decide on how to fill a seat in the House of Delegates after a lawmaker was convicted of misconduct in office.
The Washington Post reports that the Court of Appeals issued a writ Thursday saying it will rule on the Prince George's County seat vacated formerly held by Tiffany Alston.
A judge ruled last week that Alston was automatically removed from office after the conviction. The judge also ruled that Greg Hall did not have a legal claim to the seat. Hall was initially nominated by the Prince George's Democratic Central Committee to take Alston's place.
Oral arguments are scheduled for Jan. 4.
