The Baltimore city council president was among several politicians from the city to endorse Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown's gubernatorial campaign Saturday.
The Brown campaign rolled out the endorsements at an event to open a campaign office in Baltimore. Besides City Council president Bernard C. "Jack" Young, Councilmember William Cole, Councilmember Ed Reisinger, and Del. Shawn Tarrant endorsed Brown, according to the Brown campaign.
In a statement, Young said he supported Brown for his work on economic development and in addressing healthcare quality disparities in poor communities.
"Because of Anthony's hard work, thousands of Baltimoreans now have access to the quality and affordable medical care they need in our new Health Enterprise Zones," Young said. "And he's brought thousands of new jobs and increased infrastructure funding to our region through the Base Realignment and Closure process."
