Delegates Susan Aumann and Joe Boteler’s Valentine’s advertisement in yesterday’s Sun might have given some people the idea they are more than colleagues.
The ad stickers on the front page of the paper show the smiling Baltimore County Republicans surrounded by hearts, under the words “Happy Valentines Day.”
One fellow lawmaker told Aumann the sticker made it look like they were married to each other.
“What are you gonna do?” she said with a laugh.
With redistricting taking effect in 2014, “we’re trying to brand ourselves a little,” Aumann said, explaining that she and Boteler have been trying to reach out to those who will be their new constituents.
“We’ve been having a really good time getting out there to meet people, and that’s been delightful,” she said.
Both are married – to other people. Aumann’s husband of 26 years is Karl, chairman of the state workers compensation commission and former secretary of state. And Boteler has been married for decades to Betty, Aumann said.
