One of Maryland's largest environmental groups on Wednesday threw its support behind Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in the race for governor, Brown's campaign announced.
The Sierra Club endorsed Brown and running mate Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, saying the pair has a track record of advocating for policies that help the Chesapeake Bay.
The grassroots environmental organization, which says it has more than 14,000 members in Maryland, backed Brown's opponent Del. Heather Mizeur in the Democratic primary contest.
Brown faces Annapolis businessman and former Ehrlich cabinet secretary Larry Hogan in the November general election.
