Gov. Martin O'Malley on Wednesday appointed his long-time energy advisor to permanently lead the Maryland Energy Administration.
Abigail Ross Hopper became the agency's acting director since 2012, and this year successfully helped convince lawmakers to pass the governor's plan to provide state subsidies to an off-shore wind project.
Hopper, a former corporate lawyer, will continue to act as O'Malley's energy advisor. She has also worked for the Public Service Commission.
