On November 7th, 2008, I wrote, "I hope president-elect Obama will be offended by the comparison of racial discrimination with homosexual lifestyle. This comparison is dangerous to liberty. Civil rights battles should be restricted to matters of nature not lifestyle.
Obviously, in a free nation, people must be asked to treat respectfully those who choose (within law) different lifestyles. But when these lifestyles are forced on others, liberty is wrongly threatened. Forcing affirmation and endorsement of lifestyles on those who disagree with them is not freedom.
I hope our new president will recognize the important difference between required respect (which is necessary) and forced affirmation or indoctrination. In a free and diverse nation, tolerance is an important safeguard to civility. But tolerance that asks for more than respectful treatment of others, is not only profoundly misguided, it is a form of intolerance. If we don’t respect this distinction, the liberty of our nation will be threatened."
Actually 5 counties plus the City of Baltimore had a majority for it. The map is really hard to understand because they are using 4 colors but only explaining 2 of them in the map legend.
