Passer-by credited with alerting family to fire in Timonium

Baltimore County Public Safety officials are crediting a passer-by who alerted a family in the 300 block of Quaker Ridge Road in Timonium of a fire in their house.

The fire occurred Friday afternoon, April 13, and Elise Armacost, director of communications for the public safety agency, said a man who was in the area saw smoke and banged on the door.

"Two kids were inside and, happily, got out right away," she said.

Armacost said the cause of the fire was still under investigation as of April 16. The one-alarm fire caused an estimated $150,000 worth of damage she said.

Units responding to the scene included Texas, Lutherville, Brooklandville and Towson, among others. In all, 15 units responded, Armacost said.
