Marriotts Ridge boys golf sweeps Mt. Hebron, Long Reach

David Stephens tied a season high with 23 points and Marriotts Ridge kept its undefeated season alive with a tri-match sweep at the Timbers at Troy Tuesday afternoon.

The Mustangs scored 80 total points as a team — also getting strong rounds from Akash Marakath (20 points), Justin Allen (19) and Alex Pak (18) — to defeat Mt. Hebron (59 points) and Long Reach (35).

On the season Marriotts Ridge improves to 8-0 and still sits alone in first place in the standings as it chases a fifth straight county championship. The Mustangs are scheduled to play second-place Glenelg (7-0-1) at Cattail Creek on Thursday in a tri-match that will also include Wilde Lake.

Lake Lloyd of Mt. Hebron had the best individual round of the match with 24 points (3-over).

At Willow Springs, the Gladiators got big rounds from Caleb Taylor (24 points) and Tony Mobley (23) to earn a pair of victories in a tri-match. The team improved to 7-0-1 on the season, setting up a showdown for the county championship on Thursday against Marriotts Ridge at Cattail Creek.

In a close match at Hobbit’s Glen, the Hawks earned a pair of victories thanks to 22 points from Kevin Hickey and 20 from Josh Mann.

The Eagles picked up a pair of victories thanks to their balance. Ty Sams led the way with 18 points, while each of the team’s other three players scored nine or more.

Reservoir’s Trace Teodori had the best round of the match with 23 points, which was a season high for the sophomore.

Faith McIlvain scored a match-high 21 points to lead the Mustangs to the victory in their tri-match at the Timbers at Troy.

The Lions stayed undefeated on the season, with Jacqueline Cherry (22 points) and Alex Abrams (21) leading the way at Willow Springs. Logan Lurie chipped in with 12 points, while Morgan Cooper recorded her first career par on the ninth hole en route to 6 total points.
