Howard County sports reporters Monica D'Ippolito, Brent Kennedy and Tim Schwartz recap the week that was and the week ahead for Howard County high school athletics.

In this week’s podcast, Howard athletics and activities manager Michael Duffy joins us, and Howard girls basketball players Jenny Kinsey and Sam Lewis are interviewed by Monica D’Ippolito for a segment.

At the :54 mark, Brent breaks down the current regional standings for boys basketball, in addition to the discrepancies between the county standings and playoff positioning. He also talks with Howard AAM Mike Duffy about double headers, the lack of rivalry games like Long Reach vs. Howard and Mt. Hebron vs. Centennial on Friday nights, and what went into making the new county schedule this year.

At the 7:48 mark, Monica breaks down the current girls basketball county title race, and at the 10:16 mark, she interviews Howard girls basketball players Jenny Kinsey and Sam Lewis and talk about the Lions’ 18-0 start to the season, their big win against Atholton on Wednesday, which county players are the toughest to guard, which players would be best in a 3-point contest and more.

At the 21:37 mark, Tim breaks down the wrestling regional duals from Wednesday night, which included Oakland Mills winning the 1A/2A South region dual title for the third straight season and Glenelg capturing the 3A/4A East region dual title for the second straight year. He also previews the state duals scheduled for Saturday and talks to Michael Duffy about both team’s chances to win. Tim also asks Duffy about his thoughts on which tournament — dual or individual — is the “true” state championship and more.
