Reservoir baseball tops Marriotts Ridge as Morris strikes out 15

Six days after losing at Atholton, 3-2, on a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh, Reservoir pitcher Cody Morris was determined not to lose again.

Under a steady drizzle at Marriotts Ridge Monday, Morris pitched a complete-game three-hitter, striking out 15 and walking two, to lead the Gators (13-1) to a 6-1 victory.

The game was tied, 1-1, into the seventh inning, when Reservoir put together a five-run, two-out rally.

Michael Dorsch pitched 6 2/3 strong innings for the Mustangs (8-4).

Danny O'Hagan (2-4), Morris (2-2, BB, HBP), Joe Kearney (2-2) and Jack Barry (2-RBI 3B) led the Gators offense.

Both teams scored once in the first inning, when Morris gave up two of the three hits, including a Wes Carson RBI single.

Around the league

Atholton 5, Hammond 1

The Raiders improved to 14-0 in league play, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to break open a close game at Hammond.

Dan McCann (3 RBI), Phil Frazier (2 R), Nick Raulin (2B, 2 R) and Blake James (2B, 2 RBI) all collected two hits for the Raiders, while Michael Slayton (7 IP, 4 H, 6 K, 2 BB) earned the win on the mound.

Howard 7, River Hill 1

Sean Crawford allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings to earn the win, and added two hits on offense for Howard.

Brett Schaefer (2 H, 2 RBI) and Mark Reagan (2 H, 2B) led the Lions offensively.

Centennial 17, Oakland Mills 4

Derek Nadeau struck out 9 in five innings to lead the Eagles over the Scorpions.

Ben Carr (2-3, HR, 3 RBI, 2R) and Nadeau (HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) each homered to lead the Eagles offense. Daniel Sterenberg (4-4, 2 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R), Nick Varner (2-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, 3R) and Connor Clemens (2-2, BB, R) also contributed to Centennial's offense.

Thomas Clyde and Tim Miles each homered for Oakland Mills. Ben Hale added a double for the Scorpions.

Mt. Hebron 6, Glenelg 0

Mike Lettieri pitched six innings of one-hit baseball, and also drove in two runs. Marty Stevenson doubled, scored three runs, and made two diving catches in right field. As a team, the Vikings turned two double plays to preserve the shut out.

Glenelg Country 4, Lutheran 1Dragons' senior Kyle James combined with juniors Dylan Farnella and Colby Manekin to pitch a no-hitter on senior night. Senior Logan Smith had a big two-run single to put Glenelg Country up for good. Senior Joey Pickens was 2-2 with a run scored, and senior Will Seiferth had a double and a run scored.
