The Glenelg United Methodist Church will be offering a free program entitled Java and Jazz at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, as part of the congregation's Community Concert Series. The concert will feature the Kenny Rittenhouse Jazz Quartet.

Summer doesn't stop the Glenwood Community Center from offering lots of great events. The center will be offering an Introduction to Microsoft Word at 1 p.m. June 13. While it seems like the kids can just pick up any electronic device and use it, for those of us who are more mature, electronic devices can be a real challenge.

There will be a program at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, entitled What's App, Understanding Your iPhone and Apps. I think I'm going to put this one on my calendar. I've had an iPhone for a year now, but I know it can do a lot more than I know how to do. You will learn about iPhone settings, touch screen, how to download apps, connect to hot spots and battery saving tips.

Another event at the center is the Food, Fun and Fiction Book Sale. I attended this event last year and was pleasantly surprised to find some books for sale by my favorite authors. The book sale will be Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7, during normal center hours, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

If you want to really make it a great day, go to the book sale on Friday, between 9 and 11 a.m., to enjoy the waffle bar.
