The Lisbon United Methodist Church will have several special programs and services during the holiday season.
On Dec. 24, the Children and Youth Christmas Program will be held at 7 p.m. The Christmas Eve Service will be held at 8 p.m., and the Traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve Service will be at 11 p.m.
The church is on Route 144 in Lisbon next to Lisbon Elementary School.
The county is warning residents to beware of scams targeting Medicare recipients and Health Exchange applicants. Residents are being visited by people offering bogus health plans and illegal help. If you get one of these "cold calls," be careful. You can contact the county's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) office at 410-313-7392 to report suspicious offers and to receive free help.
Howard County has launched the Watershed Protection Partnership Program, which allows not-for-profit organizations and religious institutions to develop and implement plans for greater water quality improvement on their property. Howard County has a new community-wide anti-bullying program to increase awareness and reduce incidents of bullying.
