Michael Hoover's Elvis portrayal will have you all shook up [Lisbon/Woodbine]

Has Elvis been reincarnated? You may think so if you attend the Michael Hoover performance at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on July 21 at the 10 a.m. service.

Michael grew up in Rockville listening to Elvis Presley. When Elvis passed away in 1977, Michael began his "Memories of Elvis" concert as a tribute to the King.

Michael's decision to remember Elvis through his songs has served him well. He has performed with Elvis' backup group, the Jordanaires, Jerry Lee Lewis, Reba McEntire, Charlie Daniels and many more performers. I've heard Michael sing myself, and he has the voice of an angel, especially when he's singing religious hymns.

If you would like to hear Michael perform, the members of Lisbon United Methodist Church welcome you to their service. The church is on Route 144 next to Lisbon Elementary School.

There's more music to be heard this summer. The Sunset Serenades Summer Concerts will be held every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Centennial now through Aug. 7. The next concert is on July 17 and features David Bach at his jazz best.

The Traveling Bands Summer Concert on July 26 will feature Victoria Vox, who sings Uke-Pop and Folk music, and will be held at Schooley Mill Park at 7 p.m. The address is 12975 Hall Shop Road in Highland.

Clark's Elioak Farm will hold its fourth annual Film Feastival on July 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. This event highlights our local food vendors, including Howard County farms, restaurants and food producers.

It is set to kick off Howard County's Farm-2-Table Restaurant Week, which runs from July 17 to Aug. 5. The film part of this event will feature several mini films on the importance of local agriculture and food in our region as well as Howard County.

There is no cost for the Feastival; but donations will be accepted to support the Howard County Food Bank. Advance registration is required. For more information or to register, go to http://www.hceda.org/agriculture. There will also be a movie night on July 17 at the Howard County Miller Library, featuring the film "Maryland Harvest."
