If you're a fan of "Dancing with the Stars," like I am, and you want to give ballroom dancing a try, there is a ballroom dancing class held at St. Michael's Catholic Church on May 18 and 25, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall.
Each night stands on its own, so don't think that because it's your first time, you will be behind other couples. Lessons include ballroom dances such as West Coast swing and the two step, among others.
This is just a reminder that St. Michael's also holds its Divorce Care Group every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Room A-115 of the Education Building.
Topics include Learning to Forgive, Dealing with Your Family, Handling Money Wisely, Finding Strength and Help, Getting through Your Anger and Finding Peace. For more information, call 703-254-3888.
St. Michaels continues to offer services to the entire Woodbine community.
The P.S. Girl Talk peer-to-peer mentoring program meets on the first and third Thursday, from 7 to 8 p.m., in the church library. High school leaders direct middle school girls to live a more confident and positive lifestyle.
I once read that girls have great self-esteem until they reach that middle school age, and then, due to hormonal changes and peer criticism, their self-esteem plummets. Therefore, this program is essential to building confidence for middle school girls. For more information, call 443-871-9233.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
