In the market for mulch? Here come the Boy Scouts [Lisbon/Woodbine]

Boy Scout Troop 428 will hold its mulch sale on Feb. 16 and 23 at 6 p.m. and on Feb. 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

The mulch will be premium master gardener double-shredded hardwood mulch and black mulch. It is available for pickup at the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a cost of $4 for a three-cubic-foot bag of brown mulch or $4.25 for a two-cubic-foot bag of black mulch.

The mulch will also be delivered to your house for an additional cost per bag. The pickup and delivery date is March 23. For more information, call 443-266-7466.

Howard County residents may drop off their old mattresses and box springs at the Alpha Ridge Landfill for recycling. They must be dry. Residents are responsible for unloading their own vehicles. You can also schedule a bulk trash curbside pickup for mattresses and box springs by calling 410-313-6444. Items picked up at curbside cannot be recycled.

St. Michael's Catholic Church is offering a 12-week course for separated and divorced people. The course will be based on the "Catholic's Divorce Survival Guide," but is open to anyone who needs help surviving and healing from this life-changing event.

The meetings begin on Feb. 14 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the church. There will be no meetings on March 28 and April 5. There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, call 703-254-3888 or email

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will be holding its monthly feast on Feb. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Dine in or carry outs are donated by Smokin' Hot Bar and Grille in the Inwood Shopping Center. The cost is $9 a person or $30 for a family, with children 5 and under free. This is just a reminder that St. Michael's Catholic Church will hold its Friday fish dinners starting on Feb. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 in the church's multi-purpose room.

The menu includes baked fish, boiled red potatoes, fried fish, french fries, green beans, applesauce, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, pizza and beverages. The cost is $10 for an adult and $5 for children ages 6-12.
