"We make house calls, not curtain calls," the dance company proudly states. "Our theater is located wherever we dance". What a beautiful concept.
Ballet Mobile is a group of lovely dancers who literally take the show on the road with an emphasis on performing for those who simply can't leave home.
Recently, the traveling ballet troupe performed at Heartlands of Ellicott City with ethereal and dazzling renditions of "Summertime Lazy" and "Crazy Ballet". The senior citizens of Heartland were mesmerized, thrilled and soothed with the dynamic dancers.
In September, the dancers will perform at Morningside in Ellicott City with a seasonally appropriate "Autumn Ballet".
Ballet Mobile is a charitable and educational performing arts company whose mission is to serve the community. Dancers are part of the Atelier de Ballet Classique. The troupe has performed at Encore at Turf Valley, Lorien Assisted Living, Shangri La of Ellicott City, the Florence Bain Center and dozens more local venues.
Borrowing from the Emily Dickinson poem, Renee Meyer, founding and artistic director shares her mission. "Our goal is to stop one heart from breaking". The all volunteer dance troupe share a vision of bringing the healing and restorative powers of dance and performance to those who need it most.
A collective of professionally trained dancers as well as student musicians and dancers, all share the desire to bring the beauty of dance to those who will benefit the most. If you would like to learn more about Ballet Mobile, the schedule or opportunities to volunteer or support the company, go to the website at http://www.balletmobile.org.
It's hard to believe that in less than two weeks school children will be returning to their classrooms. If you have an interest in serving on the West Friendship Elementary PTA, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities, including annual events such as the spring festival, basket bingo, welcome and hospitality committees and more. Contact Valerie Eshelman at email@example.com if you would like to get involved.

When Indiana University of Pennsylvania sophomore Stephanie Clark begins her second year as a Musical Theater major, she will have had a summer's worth of preparation. The 2012 Glenelg High School graduate recently performed in this summer's Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts Teen Professional Theater production of "Shrek the Musical" at Glenelg High School. Renowned local theater legend and impresario Toby Orenstein is the artistic director of this storied teen theater.
