Americans love yard sales. Sellers get to recoup some of the cost of their no-longer-needed possessions, and buyers get to find gently-used treasures at bargain prices. It's a win-win opportunity that occurs frequently in our area every spring and fall.
The West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host its fall community yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 21, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., rain or shine. Indoor spaces cost $25, and outdoor spaces cost $20. A limited number of oversized spaces will also be available for vehicles with trailers; that cost is $25. Proceeds will benefit the West Friendship fire station.

The Retreat and Conference Center at Bon Secours will host two health-related programs this month.

He will discuss the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimers and other forms of dementia and will also share information about healthy lifestyle choices, as well as resources for patients and families. Bon Secours will collect a freewill offering for this program.
Also, a Women's Wellness Weekend will run from Friday, Sept. 27, through Sunday, Sept. 29. In this retreat, titled "Bumps in the Road: Detours to Wellness," Linda Mastro will help participants assess their lives and well-being. The weekend will include a variety of workshops. Check-in begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, and the program begins at 7. The cost is $225.
